Surrounded by mountains, rivers and fishing lakes, yet only a short drive from the sandy beaches of the Welsh coast, this early 19th century Coaching Inn is situated in the heart of the historic market town of Dolgellau at the foot of the magnificent Cader Idris mountain range. A family run hotel, it has been sympathetically refurbished and extended over the years to offer guests first class accommodation combined with the highest levels of service and convenience.
Behind its attractive ivy-clad facade lie twenty three individually and tastefully furnished bedrooms, of which eighteen are en-suite with the remaining five rooms allocated private bathrooms. a number of the bedrooms enjoy impressive views over the Town Square and the mountains. All rooms are equipped with Tea & Coffee making facilities and television.
The Royal Ship’s kitchen offers a wide selection of delicious traditional Welsh & British as well as contemporary dishes, prepared with a continental touch. The restaurant places great emphasis upon the use of seasonal, fresh and locally sourced produce which is reflected in both the taste and presentation of each dish . As deserved previous winners of the Robinson's National Seafood Week Competition there is always a fabulous selection of seafood on the menu from platters of scallops and king prawns through to the Royal Ship’s own delectable fish pie.
The Snowdonia National Park is a special part of the country where people come to relax and enjoy a wide range of leisure activities in spectacular surroundings. Snowdonia's landscape is unique, apart from the beauty and charm of its high mountains, Snowdonia is a delightfully varied landscape of steep river gorges, waterfalls and green valleys. Oak, ash, rowan and hazel woodlands are found scattered throughout the Park whilst the beautiful Dyfi, Mawddach and Dwyryd estuaries and twenty three miles of coastline and superb, sandy beaches offer a perfect contrast for all visitors.
