Once owned by Elizabeth's Lord High Treasurer and Chief Minister, Lord Burghley, Stanton Manor is steeped in history with the original house listed in the Domesday Book. It was rebuilt in 1840 and today all that remains of the original manor is the dovecote, although the large stone fireplaces that adorn the present 19th-century building were salvaged from the original house.
This is an independently owned hotel that takes great pride in its friendly staff and excellent levels of customer service. Guests enjoy the relaxed atmosphere here and always come back, in fact, to many it is a home from home.
All of the hotel's twenty-two en-suite bedrooms have been refurbished with new luxury beds, furniture and colour televisions. All rooms are very spacious and overlook the delightful gardens to the south or the village and church to the north, with some having their own private patio area. Four hotel rooms have luxury king-size four-poster beds and there are wheelchair-accessible bedrooms on the ground floor.
The AA Rosette award winning Gallery Restaurant & Bar has undergone a complete refurbishment programme with a new menu has been created by the resident chef. Light snacks are available all day in the cosy bar or lounge. The cuisine is mainly traditional European and most ingredients are sourced locally wherever possible. There is an extensive wine and champagne list. The proprietor, Mr Robert Davis, displays art from young Asian artists, and all paintings are for sale to support a child's orphanage and library in Vietnam. The hotel Bar is also open to non-residents. With it's cosy atmosphere it is perfect on cold winter days or take your drinks outside to our beautiful gardens when the weather gets warmer.
Stanton Manor is conveniently located at the southern edge of the Cotswolds and is close to the world famous City of Bath. The hotel is only three minutes from junction 17 of the M4 motorway and it is therefore very easy to visit some of England's finest attractions within a short drive.
