Nestled in sub-tropical gardens on the coast of St.Ives in West Cornwall, perched directly above the beach, and overlooking the clear waters of St Ives Bay and the famous Godrevy Lighthouse (immortalised by novelist Virginia Woolf), the views from the hotel are amongst the best you'll find anywhere in Cornwall.
As you would expect, all of the hotel’s bedrooms rooms are equipped with en-suite facilities, direct dial telephone, hairdryer, remote controlled colour television and tea/coffee making facilities. Unlimited use of the indoor pool, heated outdoor pool (1st June-6th September) and tennis courts are included in the cost of your stay. (Tennis courts are subject to availability and can be booked at Reception.)
Wireless broadband internet access is available in the guest lounge, and there are also two computers with broadband access available for guests' use.
Wherever possible, the chefs at The Porthminster Hotel utilise local seasonal produce in all their dishes, as such the hotel’s restaurant is certified and appoved by both the Cornish Accredited Restaurant Scheme and taste of the West.
All meat is supplied by two local butchers and all the produce is guaranteed 100% locally reared, similarly, all fish comes from Matthew Stevens, St. Ives premier fishmonger. Matthew insists on the very best quality of local fish and knows most of the fishermen personally thus guaranteeing only the very best quality and freshness.
Executive Head Chef, Mark Belsey, was formerly Head Chef at J. Sheekeys in London as well as stints at the Ivy, Scotts of Mayfair and Le Caprice. With a range of menus available and all prepared to the highest of standards the hotel are justifiably proud of their cuisine.
The Porthminster Hotel, St Ives, Cornwall provides the perfect base from which to explore the delights of St Ives - one of Cornwall's oldest and best-known holiday towns - as well as the spectacular scenery and coastline surrounding it.
With its unspoilt fishing harbour and maze of traditional white cottages, magnificent golden beaches and famously clear light, St Ives has inspired generations of artists, writers and poets for over a century. Warmed by the nearby Gulf Stream, this region's climate is the mildest in the UK, making it ideal for breaks both in and out of season. Often likened to a Mediterranean fishing village, sub-tropical plants and towering palm trees flourish here, and in summer the streets are swathed in colour as the town's flower displays burst into bloom.
As a guest you'll have direct access to Porthminster beach - the award-winning half-mile crescent of perfect, powder-fine sand that is, quite literally, on the hotel’s doorstep.
Whether you're taking a leisurely stroll along the coast on a mellow autumn day, lazing on the beach at the height of the summer or exploring the galleries that line the ancient streets of the town, it won't be long before you fall under the spell of St Ives.
