The Shakespeare is the most southerly hotel in the British Isles. It commands stunning sea-views over St Clement's Bay, to which there is private access to its sandy beach. The Shakespeare's relaxed, sunny atmosphere and coastal location, coupled with the fact that it lies on the main bus route both East to Gorey and West to St Helier, make it the ideal holiday destination, nearer the beach, closer to town.
The Shakespeare is a Jersey family run hotel, owned and managed by the husband and wife team of Marcus and Diana Troy who extend a friendly welcome to all guests choosing the Shakespeare as a place to stay. The hotel boasts an award-winning Restaurant which has recently undergone refurbishment, here you will be treated to a selection of beautifully created dishes from either the four course table d’hôte dinner or a la carte menus all fully complemented by an extensive wine list. There is also an extensive lunchtime snack menu, Cocktail bar, Sun lounge, Lounge bar, Lounge, Sun terrace with al fresco dining area.
A few steps from the Shakespeare's front door will take you to a secret and private beach. It's a place rarely visited by local residents and is peaceful, safe and very quiet. The beach is so close to the Shakespeare that you can saunter back to the hotel for drinks and meals to break up the most exhausting of days!
If walking, cycling or driving are your pleasures you will find the Shakespeare Hotel an ideal location.
Explore the majestic, medieval castle at Gorey that dominates the Islands east coast and the Royal Bay of Grouville. Along the way take time out to visit the tiny fishing harbours at Le Hocq and La Rocque and do not miss the famous Royal Jersey Golf Course.
Or you may wish to set off in the other direction to the main town of St Helier for a complete range of shopping, restaurants, museums and places to visit.
The Shakespeare Hotel is also a great setting off point for Jersey's unique web of "green lanes" where the speed limit is a tranquil 15 miles per hour. The only limit to how far you go around and about the island is yourself.
