A traditional 15th Century coaching inn, The Falstaff Hotel is steeped in history yet offers you comfortable Canterbury accommodation with every modern comfort. Located just a few steps away from the imposing Westgate Tower, The Falstaff Hotel provides easy access to Canterbury city centre and its attractions, including the impressive Canterbury Cathedral, a designated World Heritage Site. A decade ago, The Falstaff Hotel was extended through clever conversion of both an adjacent wood mill and a former pub. The result is a choice of comfortable Canterbury accommodation and an ideal base for a delightful break or touring holiday.
Bedroom accommodation is located in the original property and two adjacent converted properties - Old Woodmill Rooms and the Tap Rooms. Rooms in the main building of The Falstaff Hotel have ancient beams and period features whilst bedrooms in the converted areas have more contemporary styling. Accommodation is presented in a selection of forty-six bedrooms, all en-suite, non-smoking and offering a range of facilities that make a stay here a real ‘home from home’ - all are equipped with hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities, trouser press, internet access and colour Television (including access to Pay TV channels).
Pre and post dinner drinks are enjoyed at the welcoming Four Seasons Bar where you can choose from a selection of fine wines, bottled and draft lagers and authentic ales. In fine weather, drinks and meals can be taken al fresco in the pretty courtyard at The Falstaff Hotel.
Lunch and dinner is served in Othello's, a light and airy restaurant with wood panelling and floor to ceiling windows that allow you to watch the world go by as you eat. The Brasserie uses seasonal, locally sourced ingredients and focuses on modern British cuisine with an elegant twist.
Famous for its Norman Cathedral, Canterbury also offers visitors plenty of other places of interest. Guided tours and trails around the city explore the history of some of the city's oldest buildings and the fascinating Canterbury Tales Museum is not to be missed. Beautiful gardens, riverside walks, shops, and bars all add to the charm of a place that blends cosmopolitan style with old world charm.
Further afield but within easy reach from The Falstaff Hotel are Dover Castle and the famous white cliffs and Leeds Castle, which is set on two islands on the River Len and has been home to royalty, lords and ladies for over 1000 years. Journey through 900 years of the castle's history; an eclectic mix of period architecture, sumptuous interiors and family treasures waiting to be discovered. Further historical attractions include the stunning Sissinghurst Castle gardens and St. Augustine's Abbey ruins. If you wish to explore the local countryside you will see for yourself why the county of Kent earned its reputation as 'the garden of England'.
And for those who wish to hop over to France, the Dover ferry service, Channel tunnel and Eurostar from Ashford are all close at hand.
