Makeney Hall Hotel is a magnificent Victorian country mansion, situated in the heart of Derbyshire, just eight miles from Derby and two miles from the flourishing market town of Belper. Makeney Hall is delightfully set in six acres of beautifully landscaped gardens and provides breathtaking views across the Amber Valley. These tranquil surroundings, in tandem with the high levels of hospitality and service the hotel provides, offer guests the perfect destination for a relaxing break or touring holiday.

Accommodation here is presented in forty-five guestrooms all of which are comfortably furnished and decorated in a warmly traditional style you would expect of a hotel of this calibre. To give a ‘home from home’ feel, each room has a full range of facilities that include; en suite bath or shower facilities, TV, internet access, trouser press, hairdryer and tea and coffee making facilities. Further refreshments are available throughout the day and night from Room Service.

Pre and post dinner drinks are taken in the Cocktail Bar, which offers a large selection of wines, beers, spirits and soft drinks, in a stylish but relaxed environment. For dining, The Conservatory Restaurant has stunning views over the hotel grounds and the daily and a la carte menus are predominantly 'English Modern' cuisine and wherever possible based around seasonal ingredients. To fully complement the fine cuisine, there is an excellent selection of fine wines available to suit all palates and pockets. As an alternative, with its elegant oak panelling and impressive oak fireplace, Lavinia's is the prefect setting for a more private dinner.

Leisure opportunities are always high on the menu here, with much to see and do from the confines of the hotel.

As well as stunning scenery and marvellous walking trails, Derbyshire and the nearby Peak District are home to some of the country's finest stately and historic homes. Chatsworth House, home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire is well worth a visit, as are the Tudor period Haddon Hall and Kedleston Hall, a Palladian mansion.

Alton Towers, formerly a grand house that is now the site of the famous theme park, will appeal to younger visitors. Within driving distance there are plenty of pretty market towns to explore including Bakewell (home of the famous tart), Buxton and Ashbourne.

For those who are interested in racing, Uttoxeter is famous for its horses, whilst in the opposite direction is Donington Park, with regular motor racing fixtures throughout the year. Such variety ensures the area has something to appeal to everyone.

Availability: All year round, excluding Saturday night.
