The Angel Hotel is privately owned and has been closely associated with the historic town of Midhurst and neighbouring Cowdray Estate since the 16th Century. It is a fine example of an old English stage-coach inn, sympathetically restored and upgraded. The hotel retains its heritage behind a neo-classical façade and many quality architectural features from its Tudor origins.
The front of the hotel overlooks the town and to the rear, behind flower filled courtyards and peaceful rose gardens, lie open meadows and the atmospheric ruins of Cowdray Castle.
The Angel is ideally located for a number of attractions, with Goodwood House, Weald and Downland Open Air Museum and West Dean Gardens all within seven miles of the hotel. The historic town of Chichester is also within twelve miles of the Angel, making it a superb location for both business and leisure trips.
Each of the hotel's twenty eight rooms has been individually designed and furnished with carefully chosen antique furniture and quality fabrics. All offer private en suite bathrooms, colour television, direct dial telephone and most have free wireless Broadband. Original Tudor beams are a feature of many of the rooms and four poster beds grace the larger suites. One suite is fully equipped for those who are physically disadvantaged. The rooms to the rear of the hotel also enjoy beautiful views of the gardens and the Cowdray ruins in the distance.
The Angel Hotel’s highly acclaimed modern bistro offers a delectable evening menu of traditional dishes with a contemporary twist which are served in the restaurants relaxed and friendly environment. Alternatively, on summer days, the walled garden and main gardens provide delightful eating areas, far removed from the noise and bustle of the town.
