The Six Bells is a perfect country escape set on the edge of the village green, near the duck pond in the pretty Suffolk village of Bardwell. Originating in the late 1500s, the Inn was enlarged in the 19th century and then more recently by the present owners. It now offers a unique blend of traditional style and modern comforts and facilities.
Surrounded on all sides by the Suffolk countryside, Six Bells offers total peace and tranquillity, great food and a country atmosphere. Yet due to good major roads links of the M11/A11 & A14 it is a surprisingly easy drive from London and the Midlands.
With regard to dining, Six Bells offers all the delights of a Country Inn, with excellent food and drink in a friendly and hospitable atmosphere. Gordon Ferguson and his team prepare a varying three course Dinner menu each evening, with dishes ranging from the contemporary to the traditional. Prime local produce, fresh fish, Suffolk pork and lamb, and game in season are prepared daily for you to enjoy, alongside a well thought out vegetarian menu.
There is a natural and comforting ambience to the country-style beamed dining room with its old Suffolk range, making it a lovely setting for dinner. Furthermore, the pretty conservatory with its views over the garden and countryside provides a light and airy supplementary dining area.
Next to the Inn, the Six Bells’ old barn and stables have been converted into ten comfortable cottage-style bedrooms. Each is individually colour co-ordinated with solid pine furniture and en suite shower-room. Situated on the ground floor, they offer a peaceful and charming retreat with lovely views over the unspoilt East Anglian countryside but with all modern facilities - colour TV and radio, complimentary tea and coffee making facilities and individually controllable heating.
