The Royal Lodge at Symonds Yat East has an idyllic setting in the heart of the Wye Valley in an area of outstanding natural beauty where the River Wye cuts a swathe through a wooded gorge on the edge of the spectacular Royal Forest of Dean.
The hotel is perfectly situated just below Symonds Yat Rock and stands exclusively in grounds of almost five acres overlooking the river. Surrounded by immaculately maintained gardens, The Royal was originally built in 1876 as a Royal hunting lodge before being converted to a hotel in the 1920's.
There are an abundance of activities on the hotel’s doorstep, to keep even the most active engaged, including facilities for canoeing, abseiling, caving, kayaking, golf, cycling, walking, horse-riding and now Helicopter Tours. The hotel is also well situated to explore the Wye Valley, Brecon Beacons, Black Mountains and the South Wales coast.
The Royal Lodge’s twenty bedrooms are all fully en-suite, and arranged to take advantage of the hotel’s unique position on the edge of the River Wye, making the most of the views so that the vast majority of the rooms face the tranquil river.
The view from The Royal Lodge’s restaurant is no less stunning, and serves as the ideal establishment for any function. Offering fine food from their creative and well thought out menu which strikes the perfect balance between local and more International cuisine.
The Royal Lodge aims to make your stay as comfortable as possible so that you can get the most from your break in the Forest of Dean, with attentive and friendly staff who are on hand to offer advice on local places to visit, walks and activities.
