Discover peaceful surroundings and breathtaking views of the English Lake District at Lindeth Howe Country House Hotel. Located just outside the lakeside village of Bowness-on-Windermere, Lindeth Howe overlooks the largest lake in the country and the Cumbrian fells beyond.

A classic Lakeland country house hotel set in six acres of its own private garden. It was once a holiday home for the Potter family and then the permanent residence of Beatrix's mother, Mrs Helen Potter. Lindeth Howe is a tranquil place to relax and enjoy yourself, with breathtaking views to admire from the lounges and sun terrace.

All of the thirty six bedrooms are fully en suite and have a bath, shower, tea and coffee making facilities, WiFi Internet connection, hair dryer and satellite TV with radio. Each room has either spectacular views over Lake Windermere, the garden or the woodland and beyond. For that extra bit of luxury, the Delux rooms offer everything listed above as well as a dvd player, a safe for valuables, chilled water and extra toiletries.

The Lake District is renowned for its excellent local food. Lindeth Howe is proud to extend this reputation by providing only the best locally sourced produce which is available seasonally. The seasonal menus offer a variety of fine foods whatever time of the year you choose to dine, thanks to the newly appointed Head Chef, Marc Guibert who aims to further their already excellent reputation for fine dining. The dining facilities fully justify Lindeth Howe’s 2 AA Rosettes.

The hotel features an indoor heated pool with sauna and fitness room making it the ideal place to unwind, for added luxury they also have a beauty and holistic therapy room offering various massages and body treatments. For ultimate relaxation and pampering they can provide luxurious massages from sports therapy through to Indian head massages.

Bowness-on-Windermere situated in a spectacular lakeside setting on the eastern shore of Lake Windermere, is Cumbria’s most popular destination. The town is busy for much of the year, with people who come to enjoy the facilities of the lake for sailing, fishing and water sports, also those who come just to relax and enjoy the atmosphere of the area and the town’s delightful setting.

Lake Windermere has been a water highway for centuries and is the headquarters of the Royal Windermere Yacht Club. It is the greatest centre in the district for cruising, water-skiing, underwater swimming and yachting. The lake is constantly busy with ferries, yachts and speedboats and interestingly Windermere is the only lake in the Lake District, which has no speed restriction for water traffic. Take a stroll around the shoreline which is a fascinating place, where boat builders and repairers can be seen at work.
